Elko New Market is a new city, formed in January 2007, from Elko and New Market in Scott County, Minnesota, United States. Voters approved the merger in March 2006 by a margin of 437-85 [http://www.startribune.com/332/story/323300.html] . The estimated 2006 population of Elko New Market is 3,168 [http://www.ci.elko.mn.us/vertical/Sites/%7B900FB624-6800-42E0-8B44-67D43F1713EC%7D/uploads/%7BF4619303-FF5C-4D81-8C42-E1993E38E536%7D.PDF] , up from 804 in the 2000 census of the two cities. Interstate 35 and County 2 are two of the main routes in the community.
