U. V. Patel College of Engineering

U. V. Patel College of Engineering (UVPCE) is a technology institute situated on the Ganpat Vidyanagar, Mehsana, Gujarat campus. It was established in September 1997 under the aegis of Mehsana District Education Foundation with a view to educating and training talented students of Gujarat in the field of engineering and technology to meet the needs of industry in Gujarat and beyond.

The College is named after Shri Ugarchandbhai Varanasibhai Patel, a leading industrialist of Gujarat. It is a self-financed institute approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, the Government of Gujarat & one of d four deemed university.of Gujarat

The College is spread over 25 acres of land and is a part of Ganpat Vidyanagar Campus. It has two ultra modern buildings of architectural splendor measuring 6100 m². and 2700 m²., for housing class rooms, tutorial rooms, seminar hall, offices, drawing hall, workshop, library, well-equipped departmental laboratories, computer labs with wireless internet access, a satellite-linked education center with two-way audio and one-way video link with Gandhinagar.

The campus

Ganpat Vidyanagar education campus near village kherva is on Mehsana-Gozaria-Gandhinagar state highway at a distance of about 12 km. from Mehsana, 45 km from Gandhinagar and 65 km from Ahmedabad. The place is very well connected with above cities by state transport (ST) buses and luxury buses of the trust /contract buses.

Shri Ganpatbhai Ishwarbhai Patel, an eminent NRI industrialist, with his strong desire to establish an education center to promote hi-tech education in Gujarat, made a generous donation of Rs.11.5 crores. In honor of this magnanimous gesture, the campus is named after his name.

The Campus sprawling over 300 acres having rural surrounding with full of greenery, several gardens, a pond, playground and plantation of over forty thousand trees provide refreshing and enliven academic environment on the campus. To conserve the energy and to ensure light over the campus during the night with higher reliability, the entire campus is illuminated by solar street lights - a unique feature.

Separate hostels for boys & girls are available on campus and they are considered to be the best in the state/country. Shopping center, canteen, STD facilities etc. are available on campus. The discipline on the campus is excellent.

GANPAT VIDYANAGAR, is an upcoming hi-tech education campus near village Kherva, 15 km away Mehsana, 45 km from Gandhinagar and 65 km from Ahmedabad.

The dream of establishing a campus for professional courses came true by the generous support of Shri Ganpatbhai Ishwarlal Patel, an eminent industrialist settled in USA, after whom the campus has been named as Ganpat Vidyanagar.

The campus is being developed by Mehsana District Education Foundation, a highly progressive trust, dedicated to the cause of imparting quality technical and professional education in North Gujarat region. A visionary educationalist and eminent industrialist Shri Anilbhai T. Patel with his diligent group of trustees is leading this movement.

The management

Mehsana District Education Foundation (MDEF) – a private trust committed to discharging the service of providing quality education - is nurturing and watering the institute. MDEF has been a synonym for a group of people who are visionary and having some inner appeal of drawing revolution in society through Education. The leaders are ethically sturdy and at heart generous human personalities. The trust is expanding its volume since many financially affluent persons have felt like becoming a part of it by whatever help they can extend.

The foundation has constructed a large education complex near Kherva village of Mehsana District. The complex is far from the urban din and is located in natural surroundings on Mehsana – Gozaria state highway. The total area of the campus is around 300 acres where large institute buildings and separate hostels for boys and girls are constructed.

Mehsana District Education Foundation (MDEF) was established in june1996 by eminent industrialist, businessmen, NRI industrialists, educationalists and the social leaders of North Gujarat with the objectives:

To uplift the rural society through education by providing preprimary to postgraduate education in diversified areas.

To setup a strong infrastructure to promote high standard education in the hi-tech fields of engineering and technology to meet the needs of trained man-power in Gujarat and beyond.

Department

Biomedical and Instrumentation Engineering:Since 10 years, the department of Biomedical and Instrumentation Engineering is well posed to cater the needs of the course. It is equipped with well-developed laboratories to satisfy the course curriculum of various subjects related especially to the biomedical field. The laboratories are well equipped and accommodated in the space area as per AICTE norms. Presently the course is running at SEMV level, and it claims of a well equipped Biomedical related laboratories and library books.

Computer Engineering:The main backbone of the course is educating knowledge of computer and its engineering. Almost all fields are computerized to have ease of handling the problems of designing, manufacturing, maintenance, servicing, researching, marketing and accounting.The B.E. Computer engineering program includes computer operations on different languages, data generation, collection and utilization of information. The course imparts all the basics as well as latest knowledge pertaining to the rapidly developing field of computers. The course is designed to keep students in pace with the practical field.

Electronics & Communication (EC):Department of Electronics & Communication (EC) was formed in 1998 to meet the engineering manpower requirement in the emerging fields of Communication & Electronics. The course curriculum has been so designed as to meet the industrial needs. The Department has well equipped laboratories with required software & hardware. As part of the course curriculum the students have to complete a project with industry in their last semester. For project work, the students are sent to renowned Industry / Organization such as ISRO, Reliance Infocomm, Tata Infocomm, BSNL, L & T, ERDA, etc.

Information Technology:The mission of the Department is to produce and disseminate theory, principles, practice and know-how of computing in the information age. This is required for the critical analysis, design, evaluation, and improvement of computing systems in the contexts of computers and human, computers and the society, computers and the industry and services. It is our objective to prepare students to be successful in computer engineering practice. Also they should to be able to pursue advanced studies in computer engineering and information technology, on a competitive universal basis. The college has a well established computer labs which are facilitated with IBM , X series Xeon & dual processor Pentium servers, Compaq Server and several hundred workstation connected in LAN & WAN.

Mechatronics Engineering:The Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering combining Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Computers and Software, Control Engineering and including Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Robotics, etc.The developments in the field of Electronics, computer Technology, and Hydraulics & Pneumatics have opened avenues in the research and development of machines, equipments, process controls and plants and machinery. As a result there is a requirement for technical manpower having knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary areas covering these fields.

Mechanical Engineering:An evergreen branch of engineering, it requires little introduction. The students of Mechanical Engineering acquire skills in the fields of Design, Production and Management, Thermal engineering, with advanced electives in subjects like CAD / CAM, Internal combustion engines, Refrigeration and air-conditioning etc. They are exposed to the real life skill sets required through workshop exercises, industrial training and project work where all their knowledge and skills gained are put to fruitful use.

Civil Engineering:An evergreen branch of engineering, it requires little introduction. The students of Civil Engineering acquire skills in the fields of Design, Production and Management, Construction engineering. They are exposed to the real life skill sets required through workshop exercises, industrial training and project work where all their knowledge and skills gained are put to fruitful use.

Admission

The college offers two distinct categories for admission. The state quota is handled by central admission committee of state , while the management quota is handled by based on merit list of HSCE.

Facilities

Infrastructure Facilities

In a short span of time the college has developed strong infrastructure facilities. The laboratories of all the departments are well-equipped and provide state-of-the-art learning facilities.

Common facilities

Quite a good number of overhead projectors (OHP), 4 multimedia projectors, slide projector, scanner, laser printers, large number of self-learning CDs and video cassettes, Education Center with two–way audio one way video satellite link connectivity with Gandhinagar and all the software required for education purpose are available with the college.

Internet facility

At present the college has 2 mbit/s radio link to meet the requirement of the faculty and students.the service provider is ICENET

Hostel accommodation

Three blocks of hostels for boys and two blocks for girls are constructed in the campus accommodating 780 boys and 480 girls.The said blocks are constructed in modern architectural splendor with state-of-the-art facilities like reading room, TV room, separate safe cupboard and reading table. The bath room and toilet are shared by the inhabitants of two rooms. Each block has a mess serving vegetarian and hygienic food. Some more hostels are under construction.

Transport

Connectivity with Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Mehsana is ensured by regular bus service managed by the trust.

Bank

Extension counter of the Mehsana District Urban Co-operative Bank is set up in the campus for students and staff.

port Complex

A huge ground covering large area of the campus is available for playing outdoor games like cricket, volleyball, football and other games. Necessary arrangements for playing indoor games like chess, carom and table tennis are also made.

Canteen

Shopping center and canteen are located on campus to meet the various requirements of the students.

Guest House And Staff Quarters

Beautiful guest houses for guests and staff quarters for the faculty are also constructed in the campus by the college. There are also English and Gujarati medium schools run by the trust.
