Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tinggi Batu Pahat (SMKTBP), shortened Sekolah Tinggi Batu Pahat (STBP), or commonly referred to as High School Batu Pahat (HSBP) is a secondary school for boys located in the town of Batu Pahat in the state of Johor, Malaysia. It was previously known as Government English School, Batu Pahat during the colonial rule by the British.

The school's motto is "Nunc Aut Nunquam" in Latin which means "Now or Never".

Academics

The school offers both basic and advanced secondary education courses in order to equip the students who will be the future leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge that are so essential for the country's progress. Like other secondary schools, it offers lower and upper secondary educations: Form 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Pre-University

The Pre-University classes consists of Lower Six and Upper Six classes. These classes are advancements from the upper secondary classes. Most students studying in Form Six classes wear different uniform colors than the secondary students. The most important exam that the Form Six students are taking is the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) certificate, which is based on the subjects that the student take throughout their education in Form Six.

The extracurricular activities offered at SMK Tinggi Batu Pahat are many and varied in the past. But since 2006, the numbers of clubs,uniformed bodies and academic society have been reduced to mere 32 units due to unforeseen circumstances.

Facilities

Administration Building

The administration building functions as the nucleus of the school. It houses key school head offices and most meetings are conducted here.Historically, the majestic building which stands out from years 1919 has always been in white colours but it recently been painted in yellow colours to match the colours of school's logo .

Hall

Built in 1984, the High School Main Hall is frequently used for many official occasion such as morning assembly, prefects meeting, social functions etc.

The Sports Fields of STBP is widely used during the school hour. The field is used for PE. STBP famous with our football and rugby. List of rugby players (2001) Mohd Herman Othman, NurAzwan Tahir, Mohd Sufi Melan, Mohd Farid Daud, Mohd Amin Dollah and others.

tudents' Corporation

The corporation sells various stationery items and snack at a price that are reasonable cocurrently. The corporation is usually managed by the shareholders of corporation. The shareholders are required to invest RM10 annually and get the share dividends at the year end.

Laboratories and Workshops

There are currently 3 science labs for lower secondary , 3 more science labs for upper secondary and also special built lab for pre-U students for chemistry , physics and biology courses.The equipment are always up to date which encompasses state-of-the-art retort stands, "safety" bunsen burners and unbreakable beakers.

Counselors' Office

Counsellor Office which is just upstair of cooperation is the place where the Counsellor advise the students with discipline problems and also give the advise on the path to University education and also career path for Pre-U students .

Cyber Station

In an effort to make the jump for the Digital Age, the school has established a Cyber Station. Basically an in-school cyber cafe, it provides internet access and printing service.Its being handled by the cyber club of the school under the guidance of the teacher advisor. The Cyber Station also provide a source of entertainment for students on their lunch break. They are free to play computer games and search information in the Cyber Station.

Gardens

Being one of the top school, physical appearance of this school is one the top priority up to the point where it's on par with several other famous school - the garden is part of this. Mainly, there are 2 garden with each of their own concept. The Japanese garden, which is located between the new block and the administration building consist of several bizarre yet unusually beautiful if they are correctly arranged. With a pond as a finishing touch, the Japanese garden unleash an aura of tranquility and harmony - bringing warmth to the souls of those who are in its territory. Currently, the ELS ( English Language Society ) is utilizing its uses to hold the "Speakers' Corner" event, which held on every Tuesday and Thursday.

Beside the Form 2 block lies the Volcano garden - the garden that symbolises the school's grandeur and ferocity in achieving the best. At the center of the garden, a 3-meters high mini-volcano could be seen. On the volcano itself, there are abounding amount of type of plants and flowers to be observed - taken care by the workers. Surrounding the volcano is a pond, acting as divider between the garden and the other part of the earth and only accessible through a bridge - which portrays the selectiveness of the school to ascertain the quality of the students remain positive.

There are 2 other garden which were made and handled by the students under their respective clubs. Those 2 gardens are the Interact garden and Leo garden. The Interact garden is located between the Form 1 block and the Form 2 block. The Leo garden on the other hand, is located near the main entrance gate which is the Gate A. Except from the 2 aforementioned, student-handled garden, the gardens' is being well-kept by the workers or the members of Botanic Club, lead by Mr Shahabudin.

Assembly Area

The assembly area is situated just the front of the main offce and also the teachers carpark . This place is where usually the morning assembly is held and also where the students assemble during the fire exercise drill .

Parking Area

This is where the teachers and school staff parked the cars. Also , students are allowed to park their motorbikes .
