Chagrin Falls High School is located in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a suburb in the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area. The high school's mascot is Mortimer the Tiger.

Awards and recognition

During the 2004-05 school year, Chagrin Falls High School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education[3], the highest award an American school can receive.[4][5]

In 2008, it was placed 135th on Newsweek Magazine's Top 1,300 Schools list (2nd in Greater Cleveland, behind neighboring high school Solon, and 5th in Ohio).

Athletics

The school is a member of the Chagrin Valley Conference (CVC), Chagrin Division for interscholastic sports. [1].

Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championships

  • Boys Cross Country - 1971 The first school state championship team was headed by Coach John Hurst with support from AD Ralph "Coach" Quesinberry. The team consisted of seniors Dan Miller (3rd), Glenn Bomback (4th), Dave Hart (70th) and juniors John Jackson (14th), John Brandon (17th), Jim Nelan (56th) and Sam Narten (86th). The Tigers beat second place Coshocton 94 to 103[6]

History

Chagrin Falls High School issued its first diploma in 1879, with only one graduate. The first "large" group to graduate was in 1888 and this "graduating class" consisted of four people. Since then, the high school has graduated over 9,097 students. [2]
