Biography
Letscher was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He attended college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
He is known for starring on the TV series Good Morning, Miami, for playing the recurring character of Eric Garrett in Joey, and for the role of Capt. Harrison Love in The Mask of Zorro. He also starred in the romantic comedy Lovelife (1996) opposite Saffron Burrows, Carla Gugino and Sherilyn Fenn and had a recurring role on The New Adventures of Old Christine.
In 2000, Matt portrayed Beach Boy Mike Love in The Beach Boys: An American Family made-for-TV miniseries. He portrayed Colonel Adelbert Ames, commander of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the movie adaptation of Jeffrey Shaara's Gods and Generals. In 2004 he played Guy Stone, the lead in Straight-Jacket, a fictional 1950s closeted gay filmstar loosely based on Rock Hudson.
In June 2007, Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Michigan, staged the world premiere of Sea of Fools, a farce set in Joseph McCarthy-era Hollywood, written and directed by Letscher. Film director (and infamous HUAC name-giver) Elia Kazan is a character in the play.
He starred in ABC's new drama Eli Stone, as Nathan Stone, the title character's brother who is a doctor. He will next be seen in Towelhead, from American Beauty writer Alan Ball. He was a special guest star during the third season of ABC's Brothers & Sisters as a love-interest for the married Kitty Walker (Calista Flockhart). In June 2009, he signed on to guest star on Entourage, playing a TV executive.[1]
Letscher guest-starred in Criminal Minds in the episode, "Broken Mirror" playing Vincent Shyer, an FBI field agent.
