Originally, the school was located in the old Brunswick Hospital on the mainland while construction of today's campus was taking place on St. Simons Island. Biology - Students will investigate life on all levels through study, observation, and experimentation. A significant portion of the course will be devoted to work in the laboratory. Study includes organic chemistry, the cell, DNA, genetics, evolution, viruses, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, animals, basic human anatomy and physiology, and ecology
*Calculus - Topics include algebraic functions and their graphs, limits, continuity, trigonometric functions, the derivative of a function, differentiation of algebraic and trigonometric functions, implicit differentiation, related rates, maximum and minimum values of functions, applications of the derivative, differentials, anti-differentiation, the definite integral, logarithmic and exponential functions, differentiation and integration of exponential functions, integration of trigonometric functions and techniques of integration.
*English Literature - AP English Literature is built on continuous analysis and active participation in class discussion. There is a balance of analytical essay writing and practice AP exam essay writing and evaluation. Students hone their critical thinking skills with various multiple choice practices from previous exams. Major novels and plays are studied in depth for reading comprehension and analysis.
*Latin - A course of study that is heavily based on the reading and analysis of Classical authors, as well as the detailed investigation of issues, thought, and figures pertinent to the Classical world.
*Physics - A broad knowledge of the principles of classical physics and the ability to solve problems. Topics involving projectile and circular motion, gravitation, impulse and momentum, energy and work, and machines.
* Spanish - An in-depth study of complex grammatical structures, syntax, phonetics, lexicology, and Hispanic literature.Facilities
Frederica Academy has a large, well-maintained, campus that features one lower school building, two middle school buildings, a separate fifth grade hall, one high school building, a fully equipped gymnasium, cafeteria, drama theater, basketball court, soccer field, baseball field, lower school media center, library, administration building, a wet and dry science laboratory, and a full art studio.
