Sunny Forest Hill

Sunny Forest Hill is a community in Yangmei, Taoyuan County in northern Taiwan.

Location

It is located in the first foothills south of the Taoyuan, a position offering stunning views of the central mountain range, the Taoyuan-Chungli plain, and even out to the Taiwan Strait on a clear day.

History

Housing in the community is mainly built by Pacific Construction Co, and ranges in age up to 20 years. Some of the older housing has been torn down by residents and replaced with newer units, leading to a surprising variety of housing styles available.

The community was the brainchild of a group of young Taiwanese architects, who modelled it on similar Southern Californian communities. Some free-standing older houses are heavily inspired by the SoCal/Mexican architectural style.

Inhabitants

The community is home to a significant number of white collar foreign workers and business owners. Out of 1600 households, 5% are accommodating non-Taiwanese members. Taiwanese inhabitants of Sunny Forest Hill tend to be wealthier than the average Taiwanese citizen.

Management

The management of the community is very efficient, which is why the community remains in such a good shape despite its age. Parks are maintained, roads are kept clean, and all entrances and public areas of the community are patrolled by guards on an hourly basis 'round the clock.

Facilities

The community centre is home to 2 restaurants, a convenience store, an indoor swimming pool with spa and sauna, and various other facilities. Outdoor tennis courts are also available. An outdoor swimming pool is open from May to September. The community is surrounded by rolling hills covered by tea farms, containing trails and small roads which are ideal for hiking and off-road bicycling.
