Deborah S. Jin (born 15 November 1968) is a physicist with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); Professor Adjoint, Department of Physics at the University of Colorado; a fellow of the JILA, a NIST joint laboratory with the University of Colorado. In 2003, Dr. Jin's team at JILA made the first fermionic condensate. She won the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship "genius grant" in 2003, and in 2004 she was recognized by Scientific American as "Research Leader of the Year".[1] She also was awarded The Franklin Institute's 2008 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Physics.[2] She is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Jin graduated from Princeton University in 1990 and received her Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago in 1995.
