"The Gnostic" is a 2006 short film directed by Joseph McDougall II. Screenplay by Robert Subiaga, Jr., based on his short story “Koan”, published in a 1996 issue of the magazine Tales of the Unanticipated. Starring Francesco Quinn and Zhen Pu Long Ha. Running time is 5 minutes.

Plot Summary

Thane Le Mal (Quinn), a mysterious wandering warrior (never explicitly named in the film) confronts Desarimu (Long Ha), an arrogant monk, over the proper meaning of one of Zen’s oldest and most famous teaching stories.
