Tecoh is a
town in the state ofYucatán ,Mexico , located at coord|20|44|31|N|89|28|28|W, some 40 km south-east ofMérida, Yucatán . As of2003 , Tecoh had a population of about 8,500 people. Most of the population is Maya. A number of buildings in the town were built atop olderPre-Columbian foundations. "Tecoh" means "Place of the Puma" in theMaya language , which is still widely spoken here.Most of the plantations found in Tecoh are used to grow
