"Vasool Raja MBBS" (2004) is a Tamil movie directed by Saran. It is a remake of the multi award-winning Hindi film "Munnabhai MBBS". The remake stars Kamal Haasan, Sneha, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Nagesh, Malavika and Karunas. The film's music is composed by Saran's favourite music director, Bharadwaj.

Plot

A kind hearted and good conscience Rajaram aka Vasool Raja (Kamal Haasan), a small time don, does 'vasool business' with his right hand Vaddi (Prabhu). They are very happy in the bylanes of Chennai, though his only problem is the annual visit of his parents from the village. His parents (Nagesh and Rohini Hattangadi) think Raja is a Doctor who runs his own hospital. So on their arrival Raja's house is converted into a makeshift hospital. During a trip, Nagesh meets his doctor friend Vishwanathan (Prakash Raj) and is keen to get his son married to his daughter Paapu (Sneha). Dr.Vishwanathan breaks off the engagement and humiliates Nagesh once Rajaram's true colors are revealed. This incident changes Vasool Raja. Nagesh is totally heartbroken, which prompts Raja to change his ways for the better. He decides to become a doctor and enrolls in Dr.Vishwanathan's medical college. Now the story of Vasool Raja turning into an MBBS kick starts.

Raja uses the help of a doctor to cheat the entrance exams and get first place in the examinations. He starts his hilarious antics from the very first day and then proceeds with making huge changes to the hospital including providing a new bed for a long sick patient, making friends with the cleaners and also helping a patient to enjoy his last few days.

When confronted the dean (prakash raj) raja informs him that he has joined this college to teach him a lesson for humiliating his father. He then breaks all the plans made by the dean to remove him from college. He even inflicts injuries on himself to ensure he stays in the hospital so that he is near his love (Sneha) whom he does not know is his paapu.

Finally he admits in front of all the audience and leaves. Sneha stands by him telling that he brought about love and confidence when he was here due to his practical approach to all. This is shown when the long sick patient, makes a few moves towards the Dean at the end showing him that love conquers all.

In the final scene it is shown that Paapu had brought all together and is united with Raja.
