"South Park" (originally titled, [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205423/ "South Park: Deeply Impacted"] during development) is a First-person shooter video game based on the first few seasons of the popular TV series of the same name. The game is powered by the "" game engine and was released in 1998 by Acclaim for the PC, Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation. A Game Boy Color version was in development, but was canceled soon after. The Brazil version of the "N64" version was published by Gradiente which also translated the game into Portuguese.

Introduction

A comet is heading towards South Park, causing enemies such as mutant turkeys, killer cows, "Visitors", giant clones, living toys, and robots to flock to South Park. Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny must defeat these evil forces while trying to stop the comet from landing. They are aided by various weapons and guided by Chef, who gives them advice.

Gameplay

Single player mode begins with choosing one of the boys (Cartman, Kyle, Stan or Kenny). The player must then defeat opponents using weapons found throughout the game.

Multiplayer

In Head-to-Head mode, the players select a level, characters, and game style (time limited, damage limited, or unending). The PC version allows for online Head-to-Head play.

Upon reaching select stages in single player mode, codes are revealed. These can then be input into the "Cheesy Poofs Decoder" to unlock additional characters for Head-to-Head play.

Gadgets

These can, among other things, restore health, send opponents dancing away, flatten them with a cow. They are grouped into two categories and one subcategory.

Weapons

Various weapons can be picked up along the way. They are usually hidden on short cuts or alleyways or any other hidden place. Each weapon has at least two modes of fire.

* Snowballs- Infinite snowballs are the default (and weakest) weapon. Secondary function: Yellow snowballs (there is a brief animation that suggests they have been peed on). These snowballs have a small blast radius.

The rest of the weapons will need to be collected over time.

* Dodgeballs - These are red dodgeballs, usually found grouped in lines. They can bounce at opponents, causing damage. Secondary function: the dodgeball is thrown much harder, doing more damage.
* Toilet Plunger Launcher- This causes moderate damage by sticking to an opponent or object. Secondary function: fires three plungers at a time.
* Sponge Dart Launcher - A rapid fire gun weapon. Secondary function: Dum Dum Bullets.
* Phillip Dolls - A doll that explodes like gas grenades, raising a deadly green gas. Secondary function: Terrance dolls, act like landmines, releasing gas that can kill some enemies when stepped on - one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
* Warpo Ray- This weapon has three fire modes:

:Function 1 - Fires piranhas. In this mode, its damage rating is similar to Quake II's Hyperblaster.

:Function 2 - Shrinks opponent. :Function 3 - Turns opponents into animals.

* Sniper Chicken- Fires eggs at enemies. Secondary function: Sniper rifle function.
* Cow Launcher- Fires a cow, which lands ass-first on an opponent's head, causing considerable damage (usually death) and partially obstructing the opponent's screen. This weapon is a parody of the Cerebral Bore weapon in the "" games.

Head to Head Gadgets

These can only be used in head-to-head mode. They are:
* Alien Dancing Gizmo- Sends opponents into a dancing frenzy.

Power Ups

Various power ups can also be found throughout the game:

* Cheesy Poofs - Increases health by 10%.
* Snack Cakes - Restores full health.
* Beefcake - Gives invincibility.
* Mr. Hankey - Acts as a shield.
* Zipp! Cola - Gives a brief burst of speed.
* Football pads - Acts as armor for a certain amount of time.
