In 1959, he led theAmerican League in games started in with 37.His production dropped off in the 1960's, and on June 15, 1963 he was traded by the Detroit Tigers with
Frank Kostro to theLos Angeles Angels for George Thomas and cash.A month and a half later, on
July 31 ,1963 , during the sixth inning of a game against theCleveland Indians , Foytack became the first pitcher to give up home runs to four consecutive batters.
