Disturbing Joan

Disturbing Joan is a Saint Lucian band that plays reggae, rock and funk. The members were local surfers who emerged from the local bar scene, getting their first big break by opening for Malcolm Jamal Warner's band in 2001 at Jazz on the Square. They released their debut, Bush Tea, in 2002 and received the M&C Fine Arts Awards the next year. In 2003, Disturbing Joan played with Third World and Barrington Levy, and toured in Martinique.

Core Band Members include guitarist-songwriter Nicholas Devaux, drummer Alvin 'Fats' Alexander, bassist Chris de Freitas and rhythm guitarist Andre Pancho de Caires. Former band members include keyboardists Shesh Cooper and Arlene Bristol-Devaux. Founding frontman Jonty Davies, who was with them since the inception of the band parted ways with the group earlier this year. Earlier this year, when Davies and de Caires voted against playing more hotel gigs on the island, Devaux formed another group Plan B, made of some of the members of Joan. Devaux and the remaining members of the band, minus de Caires changed the name of Plan B to Ricochet and now play on the tourism circuit, including hotels and bars.
