Willmon was raised on a ranch near
Afton, Texas . He spent the early years of high school learning about agriculture, but at 16, he was given a guitar, and his interest in music began to grow. By his second year in college, he dropped out to join a bluegrass band. In 1995, he moved to Nashville to start a songwriting career, and by 1998 he had a song-publishing contract with Sea Gayle Music. He finally signed withColumbia Records and became a solo artist. He released two albums for the label — "Trent Willmon" (2004) and "A Little More Livin' " (2006) — in addition to charting six singles on the "Billboard"Hot Country Songs charts. Willmon exited Columbia's roster in 2006, and signed with Compadre Records. His third album, "Broken In ", was released on February 26, 2008.In late 2007, Willmon announced that he will make his acting debut in a movie entitled "Palo Pinto Gold". Released in mid-2008, the movie also stars
Roy Clark andMel Tillis , and features Willmon's songs in its soundtrack.Willmon also co-wrote
