Rio Branco on the Rio Acre on the border toBolivia , across from the Bolivian cityCobija . Brasiléia lies in theAmazon Basin at an approximate elevation of 280 m above sea level and has a tropical, hot and humid climate. Brasiléia has 16 940 inhabitants (2004), and the main industry is production ofIndia rubber .The city was established in 1910. The name is a created from the words "Brasil" ("Brazil") and "hiléia" ("forest").
