KVTI (90.9 FM, "I-91") is a non-commercial Top 40 Mainstream radio station licensed to Tacoma, Washington, and operates at 90.9 MHz with an ERP of 51kw. It uses the on-air handle "I-91 FM, Tacoma's Music Source."

History

KVTI, which debuted with the current format in 1988, is operated by Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, Washington and can be heard in the Puget Sound region except parts of Snohomish County due to signal coverage from KSER in Everett, which broadcasts next door at 90.7. The station began in 1955 as KCPS and also had the call letters KPEC-FM from 1972 until 1983.

Although the majority of the station's programming is Top 40 music (with news in the morning and afternoon), Tuesday nights feature live acoustic music from 7-10PM and Talk and Public Affairs from 10PM to Midnight.

KVTI is a unique combination of public broadcast station and career training platform. It combines a technically competitive and powerful large market facility with professional management and engineering together with an operating staff of full-time broadcast students enrolled at Clover Park.

In 2007, KVTI was recognized as the Top 40 Radio Station of the year by the New Music Awards.
