Salvatore Antonio

Salvatore Antonio

Salvatore Antonio (born Salvatore Antonio Alessandro Migliore in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian actor and playwright. He was born to Italian-immigrant parents. He has a brother and sister, and he is named after a brother who passed away before he was born.

He attended the Unionville High School for the Arts. Salvatore was the first student from that school to be accepted into the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada; he was one of eight actors accepted out of over 1,000 who auditioned.

Actor

As an actor, Salvatore Antonio has worked extensively on the stage, in films, and on television. He is currently filming the third season of the television-series "Paradise Falls" for Showcase. He plays the series' lead character, Sacha Martinelli, the stylish and irreverent owner of a resort in Paradise Falls.

He had been slated to perform in the film "Blindness", directed by Fernando Mereilles. He had to pull out, however, because of scheduling conflicts that arose before filming.

He had a regular role in the six-part television series "At The Hotel" by Ken Finkleman.

On stage, he appeared in "Léo" by Rosa Laborde at the Tarragon Theatre as the title character during the winter of 2006. He reprised the role in 2007, in response to critical acclaim, and will tour Canada with the production in winter 2008. He played one of the lead roles in the psychological thriller "Sam's Lake". Other recent films include "Cursing Hanley", "The Gospel of John", and "Looking for Angelina".

The play went on to be translated into Italian, and was performed in October 2006, at Teatro Della Limonaia, in Florence, Italy. The script was published in May 2007, by Playwrights Canada Press ( and is available on Amazon.ca, and at Theatrebooks.com, as well as through PlaywrightsCanadaPress.com ).

"In Gabriel's Kitchen" will receive its US premiere in January 2008, at The New Conservatory Theatre Center, in San Francisco. Mr. Antonio is currently writing a new play, as part of the Tarragon Theatre Writer's Unit. He was the playwright-in-residence at Buddies in Bad Times for its 2004-2005 season.
