HMAS "Otama" (SS 72/SSG 72) was an "Oberon" class submarine laid down by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at
Greenock inScotland on 25 May 1973, launched on 3 December 1975 and commissioned on 27 April 1978. She was one of six "Oberon"s built for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).Operational history

Decommisioning and fate
HMAS "Otama" paid off on 15 December 2000, with the intention that it would be preserved as a museum at Hastings in Victoria. As of 2008, she is moored in
Crib Point awaiting conversion.References
