Tokyu Car Corporation

nihongo|Tokyu Car Corporation|東急車輛製造|Tokyū Sharyō-seizō is a manufacturer of heavy rail cars in Japan. The company is based in Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama, Japan, and a member of Tokyu Group: Tokyu Corporation. Tokyu Car manufactures rail vehicles not only for the Tokyu Railway but for other Japanese operators including various Japan Railway companies and international operators as well.

Tokyu Car Corporation was a licencee of early-generation (early-1960s) stainless-steel commuter EMU train body and related bogie technology from the Budd Company of the United States. Since then, Tokyu Car has evolved into arguably the world's leading innovator in stainless-steel body car technology.

Products

Besides railway rolling stock, Tokyu car also manufactures special duty motor vehicles (such as dump trucks, trailers and vans).

* Iarnród Éireann DART Dublin Area Rapid Transit fleet expansion EMU rail cars 8520 Class. (Dublin) with Mitsui (lead contractor)
* Iarnród Éireann Arrow Commuter, both original and fleet expansion IE 2800 Class. (Operate on Commuter routes in Cork and Dublin) with Mitsui (lead contractor)
* Iarnród Éireann Intercity national fleet replacement. Bogie supplier for high spec. DMUs operating at 100mph (Rolling out in 2007 to 2009, to operate services on all Irish Rail routes, except the Cork-Dublin Express and the Dublin-Belfast Enterprise) - with Mitsui (lead contractor), Rotem (car builder) and MTU Friedrichshafen (engine)
* Metro-North Commuter Railroad M-4 EMU car for New Haven Line (1988)
* Shinkansen EMU Cars
* JR East E231 series EMU rail cars
* Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 cars with Nippon Sharyo and Kinki Sharyo
* Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Red Line heavy rail cars
* LRV cars for Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's Buffalo Metro Rail operations.
