Romancoke is an unincorporated community on Kent Island in
Maryland , located at the southern end ofMaryland Route 8 . TheUnited States Census Bureau defines anurban cluster for Romancoke, but not acensus-designated place . The name "Romancoke" comes from the Algonquian word for "circling of the water."
