The population is approximately 24,000 people. Misilmeri is in the Eleuterio Valley on the southern slopes of Montagna Grande. The altitude is approximately 129 meters above sea level.
Misilmeri is known in Sicily for being the birthplace of several upper-level Sicilian Mafia members.
