Phillip Ndou (born
May 4 ,1977 inThohoyandou ,South Africa ) was a boxer. He had an excellentknockout percentage, with a record of 31-3 (30 KOs). He was forced into early retirement when he collapsed after a loss toIsaac Hlatshwayo . A brain scan revealed an abnormality that would endanger Ndou's health if he continued to box.Ndou never won a major world title, but he won many minor title fights at
featherweight andsuper featherweight . His most notable fight was an entertaining seven-round bout against WBClightweight championFloyd Mayweather Jr. onNovember 1 ,2003 .Coincidentally, Ndou had competed in the same featherweight boxing tournament as Mayweather at the
1996 Summer Olympics . Ndou lost in the second round to the eventualgold medal ist,Kamsing Somluck ofThailand .He now works for a boxing supplies company in Gauteng, RSA.
