KIKK (650 AM, "CNN 650 Radio News") is a daytime-only station located in the Houston, Texas area and broadcasts a News format under ownership of CBS Radio. Despite different owners, KIKK and KHOU-TV maintain a strong partnership (as KHOU is the local CBS television affiliate).

History

KIKK, once known as "Business Radio 650", changed formats in 2004 to a Talk radio station under nickname "KickAss 650", which became a home for the "Howard Stern Show". After Stern's move to Sirius Satellite Radio, KIKK switched back to a news format. Their early evening schedule was comprised of Adult Standards/MOR music, but since 2008, it's been replaced with CNN Headline News programming.

For many years in the 1970s and 1980s 650 was a country music station. It often-times simulcast with sister station KIKK-FM 95.7.

Program Schedule

KIKK begins their daily broadcasts at 7AM CT (or sunrise) with the latest news headlines from CNN as well as some local business programming and ends this at sunset as Nashville, Tennessee "clear channel" radio station 650 AM WSM, which broadcasts on the same frequency and KIKK cannot broadcast during nighttime hours because of this.
