Professor of Greek, Glasgow

Professor of Greek, Glasgow

University of Glasgow

Under the Nova Erectio of King James VI the teaching of Greek was the responsibility of the Regents and from 1581 one of the Regents was sometimes given the title 'Professor of Greek'. Following the retirement of Douglas MacDowell in 2001, the university opted to allow the Chair of Greek to lapse.

This Professorship was established in 1704.
