- Air Pollution Control Act
The Air Pollution Control Act was the first United States legislation concerning air quality. It was enacted in 1955 by the 84th United States Congress (USPL|84|159). This act suggested additional research and education on the issue, and said that air pollution was a serious problem. The act did not put into effect any restrictions on polluters.
