accessdate=2008-07-03] On the mainland the company purchased seven ex-WestrailL class locomotives in July 1999 (Nos 251,253,254,265,270,271 and 276 - ex Comalco 1002), as well as three830 class (nos 833, 838 and 845) locomotives fromAustralian Southern Railroad for use on light axleload lines. ATN Access also imported 44 new 68.5 tonne capacity grain wagons (up to 92 tonne gross weight = 23 tonne axle load) from China. These were purchased through Macfield (a transport design, engineering & supply company based in Adelaide) and constructed at the Qiqihar Railway Workshops in Northern China.The only contract won by ATN Access was for the haulage of a minimum of 300,000 tonne p.a. of grain from the
New South Wales Riverina and Dimboola in Victoria under contract with the AWB to the seaboard terminals at Port Kembla, NSW and Appleton Dock, Victoria. This was a six year "take or pay" contract with a four year option which was not taken up by AWB limited at the expiration of the initial six year operation.References
