- Lego Batman
LEGO Batman is a theme of
LEGO building sets based on thecomics ,films , andcartoons featuring theDC Comics superhero ,Batman .Currently into its third wave, the sets feature vehicles, characters and scenes based on their standard accepted appearances in the comics. Many characters, such as Nightwing, Robin and Alfred have made their appearances in the sets so far, the villains are usually paired with vehicles such as Joker's helicopter and ice-cream truck, the Penguin's submarine, Scarecrow's biplane, Two-Face's Truck, Killer Croc's speedboat, Catwoman's Motorcycle, Harley Quinn's Monster Truck, and Mr. Freeze's Freezer Car.
The inspirations for the various versions of vehicles and characters vary widely. For example, the
Batmobile retains its basic sleek shape and prominent fins from the Tim Burton films. The Tumbler as seen in "Batman Begins " and "The Dark Knight" made its Lego debut this year to tie into the release of "The Dark Knight". TheBatboat is more of a hovercraft, and the Batwing looks very similar to the version in the 1989Batman movie, albeit without decorative lights. The "Bat-tank" seems to be based on the tank-like Batmobile in Frank Miller'sThe Dark Knight Returns andThe Tumbler from "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight".List of Batman Lego sets to date:
Batman is given a wide range of vehicles, their appearances resembling their accepted forms. A new vehicle, in the form of the "Batman Dragster", has also been introduced. The Batmobile appears similar to the way it does in the 1989 film, while the Batboat takes on a hovercraft-like form. All the set-boxes feature a comic strip by artist Greg Hyland at the back, featuring stylised versions of the set in action.
Lego obtained the license to produce sets based on all available mediums in which Batman appears. Lego released a line of Batman sets in June 2008 to tie in (albeit indirectly) to the
The Dark Knight . However, these sets do not directly reflect sequences or scenarios in the film, unlike most of Lego's other movie tie-in lines.Notable Batman Lego in the media
