Bactine

Bactine is the trademarked name of a range of topical first aid treatments produced by Bayer. It includes a first aid liquid with active ingredients Benzalkonium chloride, an antiseptic, and lidocaine, a local anaesthetic. Bactine Liquid is a topical anesthetic, (a type of local anesthetic) which means that it is used to numb the surface of a body part.

History

Bactine was developed in 1947 and introduced in 1950 to provide consumers with a single first aid product that was more effective, safer, and less caustic than the products commonly used for first aid at the time (iodine, silver nitrate, boric acid, and hydrogen peroxide are a few examples).Bactine Antibiotic Cream contains Polymyxin B and other active ingredients
