Ashby is an underground train station in the MARTA rail system. It is the point where the short Proctor Creek spur line splits to the northwest of the main east/west line. As of April 2006. 2,145 daily fares were collected at the gates.

The area it serves was an important mini-downtown from the 1880s until the 1950s, centered on West Hunter St. (now Martin Luther King Drive) and Ashby St. (now Joseph Lowery Boulevard). As of 2006, the area surrounding the station is being redeveloped, sporting two family-owned diners and a short walk to the campus of the Atlanta University Center campus. Condominiums and a shopping area are under construction adjacent to the station.
