Hughes Software Systems Limited (HSS), previously known as Flextronics Software Systems Limited (FSS) now known as Aricent was incorporated in India on December 30, 1991 with Hughes Network Systems (HNS), a unit of Hughes Electronics Corporation (HUGHES), USA as its principal shareholder.
Hughes Electronics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, was formed on December 31, 1985, when General Motors acquired Hughes Aircraft Company from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Hughes Electronics consists of Delco Electronics Corporation; Hughes Aircraft Company; Hughes Space and Communications Company; Hughes Network Systems, and DirecTV.
