Drapano ( _el. Δράπανο) is a small settlement located 3 km northeast of
Argostoli , W of Sami and northwest of theArgostoli-Sami Road (GR-50). Drapano is on theArgostoli-Fiskardo Road , which also links to thePaliki peninsula. The village is in a mountain area and the gulf, along with a small bay, is situated to the west. Drapano also has a small farm as well as an abandoned mine further north.Much of the population is rural and the main economy is based on agriculture. The average local income is in the middle range. Much of the population in the mid-20th century left for larger towns and cities. The
1953 Ionian Earthquake destroyed every building in Drapano, which took months to rebuild, and also killed people in the village. The entire population at that time, as in other parts of the island, were homeless and part of the population left Drapano.Nearest places
