. The village gets its name from an alpine waterfall which is visible in the hills to the east.
The city of Berlin is made up of a number of ethnic villages (Norwegian, French, Irish, Russian, Italian, etc...) into which its early immigrant population settled. In historical times, Cascade was a predominantly Italian and Polish village.
The village of Cascade straddles
NH Route 16 , the main road into Berlin from the south. The upland part of Cascade, to the west of the road, is known as Cascade Hill, while the low-lying eastern portion is called Cascade Flats.A paper finishing mill, operated by Fraser Papers, occupies a prominent location in the middle of the village.
