March 5 ,1966 inToronto ,Ontario ) is a retired former professionalice hockey player. After a junior hockey career with theLondon Knights in which he won theMax Kaminsky Trophy as outstanding defenceman in 1984–85, Halkidis joined theBuffalo Sabres . During his career he also played for theLos Angeles Kings ,Toronto Maple Leafs ,Detroit Red Wings ,Tampa Bay Lightning ,New York Islanders andHIFK . In 1998 Halkidis won Finnish championship with HIFK and was very popular among fans due hes rough and uncompromising style of play. Known more as a defensive defenceman, Halkidis recorded 8 goals and 32 assists over 256 NHL games. He retired in 2001. Now he is married, and has three chidren: a daughter and two sons.In 2005–2006 he was Director of Hockey at the Extreme Ice Center near Charlotte, North Carolina.External links
