- South Fork State Recreation Area
The South Fork State Recreation Area is a
state park in the central part of Elko County, in northeasternNevada in the westernUnited States . Located 15 miles (24 km) south of the town of Elko, it is in the Central Nevada Region of Nevada State Parks.The park is composed of a 1650 acre (6.68 km²) reservoir impounding the flow of the South Fork of the Humboldt River, surrounded by 2200 acres (8.9 km²) of marsh, meadowland, and hills. Facilities include a 25-site campground, a boat ramp, and a parking area near the South Fork Dam. The reservoir is known for its trophy-class trout and bass fishing. South Fork Canyon, located below the dam, is available for hiking.
