Choa Keawnavarat ( _th. พลตรีเจ้าแก้วนวรัฐ ประพัทธอินทนันทพงษ์ ดำรงนทีสันดรเขตต์ ทศลักษเกษตรอุดม บรมราชสวามิภักดิ์ บริรักษ์ปัจฉิมานทิศสุจริตธรรมธาดา มหาโยนางคราชวงษาธิบดี เจ้านครเชียงใหม่ องค์ที่ 9) was the last ruling prince of Chiang Mai.

Early life

He was born September 29, 1862 at royal residence of Chiang Mai(คุ้มหลวงนครเชียงใหม่) as the 6th son of Phra Choa Intavichyanon, 7th ruling prince of Chiang Mai and Mae Choa Kew.

Marriage and family

When he was 22 years old, he married Mae Choa Jammary, daughter of Choa Rajapakinai Panfar. After that he married with Choaying Fai, Mom Buakew and Mom Sae. He had 4 sons and 2 daughters with his wives.

Work

Choa Keawnavarat began to work when he was 15 years old when his father, Phra Choa Intavichyanon ruled Chiang Mai as
* Vice minister of treasury in 1877
* Minister of treasury in 1882
* Minister of interior in 1899
* Acting ruling prince of Chiang Mai in 1909

Taking the throne

He began ruling Chiang Mai in 1911, after his brother's death.

pecial duty

* Phra Choa Intavichyanon ordered him to bring 300 Chiang Mai and Lamphun families to Chiang San in 1877, when he was a vice minister of treasury.
* Phra Choa Intavichyanon ordered him to bring the royal tribute to Bangkok to King Rama V in 1886.
* He brought Northern soldiers to quash the rebels in many instances.
* He was the head officer when build many road in Chiang Mai and another province.
* He was a special guard of the king as Major General of Royal Thai Army.

ickness and Death

He became sick in early 1938, but he came to Bangkok when king Ananda Mahidol Mahidol came back to Bangkok. He became sick again in March 1938, and died June 3, 1940,when he was 77 years old.
