She gained notoriety in the 1981 horror cult-classic Evil Dead, playing Bruce Campbell's sister Cheryl. Her ill-fated journey into the woods, subsequent brutal, sexual assault by the trees and transformation into a cackling, pasty-faced demon ranks as one of the most disturbing and goriest scenes in horror filmdom.
