Canonical oscillator

Canonical oscillator

A canonical oscillator is any system with two extremal states and a source of power that causes it to transition between states in a sinusoidal manner.

In biology oscillators are common, such as the heartbeat.

The theory of the canonical oscillator was devised to explain the profit cycle in Lloyd's of London insurance business.
