In between recording the band competed in the highly publicized Garage 2 V competition, in which they were a Victorian finalist. Armen Firman released the single "Porch Dweller", in May, which was well received in Australia and exploded onto the digital music scene. The song received over 12,000 downloads in its first 6 weeks, and was dubbed 'Single of the Week' on iTunes Australasia as well as receiving rave reviews in multiple music publications. According to a radio interview with Armen Firman, Wally De Backer (a.k.a.
Gotye ) helped record the vocals in the band's home studio. In August 2008, Armen Firman released their second single, "In The Water", from their as-yet-unreleased debut EP, directly to radio.
