Robert Herbert (Bob) Forsch (born January 13, 1950 in Sacramento, California) is a former starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1974-88) and Houston Astros (1988-89). He batted and threw right handed. He is also the author of "Bob Forsch's Tales from the Cardinals Dugout," which was co-written by Tom Wheatley.

Forsch graduated from Hiram Johnson High School and Sacramento City College.

Career

In a 16-season career, Forsch posted a 168-136 record with 1133 strikeouts and a 3.76 ERA in 2,794-2/3 innings pitched. He is one of the very few pitchers to throw more than one no-hitter, having accomplished this feat two times in his career. The first came against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 16, 1978, and the second happened on September 26, 1983 against the Montreal Expos.

Forsch pitched for the NL pennant-winning Cardinals of 1985 and 1987 and the 1982 World Series champion Cardinals.

Forsch was also one of the better hitting pitchers in baseball during his career, with a .213 batting average and 12 home runs. Forsch won the Silver Slugger for NL pitchers in 1980 and 1987.

His brother, Ken Forsch, pitching for the Houston Astros, threw a no-hitter against the Atlanta Braves (6–0, on April 7, 1979), making them the only set of brothers to pitch no-hit no-run games in MLB history.
