Joanie Dodds (b. September 20 1981, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania) is an American fashion model. Dodds currently resides in Hollywood, California. She had her debut television appearance as the runner-up on Cycle 6 of the CW reality TV series, "America's Next Top Model".

Early life

Joanie is the oldest of five children, three of which are half brothers and sisters. She was born in Beaver Falls, Pa, and also lived in Rawson, OH for 7 years, and graduated from Cory-Rawson High School. Her parents divorced when Joanie was 3 years old, putting Dodds into shared custody with her sister Jennifer for years. Both of her parents remarried and had more children. Joanie's father, John, is a minister of the Churches of God in Mansfield, Ohio at Ridgeway Church of God. Her mother is a Steel Worker in Beaver Falls, PA. In High School, Dodds was considered a goofy, fun girl, but never the popular one. Not until her senior year and after her move to Rawson, Ohio, Dodds blossomed and her personality came out. Joanie was involved in Cheerleading, Track, Theater, Choir and Student Council. She was Student Body President and Senior Class Vice President her senior year as well as the Vice President of the Choir. She has been playing the saxophone and piano for over 15 years and was involved in Concert and Jazz Bands until the tenth grade. After High School, she attended the University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio. She was a computer science major and economics minor. During her time in College she was involved in Summerstock Theater Programs in which she starred in several shows, including "The Will Rogers Follies" and "Born Yesterday". She left University to follow her career in Modeling after she was "discovered" at a ProScout event in Columbus, Ohio in September, 2001. From ProScout, Dodds was signed with Paulines Agency in New York and Aria in Chicago. Dodds modeled in New York, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland before auditioning three times for America's Next Top Model in 2003 and 2004, finally getting called back in her third attempt. Joanie is also a Big Sister in Big Brothers Big Sisters and makes University and Charity Appearances to speak to the students and talk about the show and self esteem.

America's Next Top Model

From the beginning of the season, the panel praised her photogeneity, and Tyra Banks noted, "Joanie just can't take a bad picture." This landed her in the final two; however, despite having the more versatile portfolio, she was beaten by Danielle Evans' stronger in-person presence and stronger final runway walk. However, Joanie Dodds has set three records in "America's Next Top Model" history - she was the first contestant that managed to make it to the final two without a single appearance in the bottom two (later met by Cycle 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez and Cycle 10 runner up Anya Kop) , she received five first call-outs (later followed by Anya Kop from Cycle 10), the highest amount and received three consecutive first call-outs, also the highest amount.

Her TV appearances include a commercial for Pepsi, Budweiser, Heineken, a commentary on America's Next Top Model for Best Week Ever, modeling in fashion shows for House of Dereon on The Tyra Banks Show, serving as a special guest on the eighth and tenth seasons of America's Next Top Model, and an appearance on the KTLA Morning Show modeling looks for the summer. Joanie will be serving as a guest judge for the Vietnamese Model Project. She has appeared on runways for Jared Gold's Quiet Army Runway, Hollywood Fashion Walkoff, and Voom by Joy Han, Fall 2007 . Dodds has also starred in short films, including "The Date" and "20 Miles Till Death". She was one of the 10 girls featured on "America's Next Top Model Exposed". She also appeared in Cycle 10 as a cheerleader.
