Administrative and municipal status
Administratively, it is incorporated as the city of oblast significance of Mezhdurechensk—an administrative unit with a status equal to that of the districts.
Municipally, the territories of the city of oblast significance of Mezhdurechensk and of Mezhdurechensky District are incorporated as Mezhdurechensky Urban Okrug.[5][6]
Events
Aeroflot Flight 593 crashed near the city in 1994.
Victory Day celebrations were cancelled in the city in May 2010[citation needed] after a mine explosion killed at least thirty-one[7] people.
