Hull City Council has been led by a Liberal Democrat administration since 2006. Originally as a minority administration, the Liberal Democrats first gained overall control of the council in 2007. The council had been led by Labour since the early 1970s until 2002. They again led the council as a minority administration between 2003 and 2006.
