In this film, Kadhir (
Ravi Krishna ), the hero belongs to a lower middle class family. He is seen by his father as a good for nothing fellow as he bunks classes, fails in exams, goes behind girls and hangs out with his friends. This is quite evident from the opening song which shows the friends gang doing things like playing a cricket match which ends in a bloody mess, smoking heavily, and gazing vulgarly at the women in the neighbourhood. Kadhir also thinks that his father does not like him at all and fights often with him, even threatening to leave the house once for all, only to be persuaded not to do so by his mother.Kadhir's life changes when a Hindi family occupies a vacant house below kadhir's house. The family moves into door no 7G. Kadhir finds that the family has a beautiful Hindi girl Anita (
Sonia Agarwal ) and feels attracted to her gradually. Anita happens to be a computer science student and is also a sophisticated girl. Kadhir tries to garner her attention but Anita has a poor opinion on him after watching his antics like creating a scene in a film theatre, disrupting her performance during a colony get together,fighting with his friend in a bus stop (regarding who should see Anita) and so on.Anita's family needs to go out of town to attend a wedding and are forced to leave behind Anita under the care of Kadhir's mother as Anita has to give exams the next day. That night, Kadhir takes lot of care on Anita like feeding her on time, waking her up when she falls asleep while studying and even dropping her in her college on the day of her exam. Anita is enraged when she spots Kadhir waiting at the same spot for her after her exam, apparently wanting to drop her home. She chides him for waiting so long and instead hops into a bus home. On the way back home, Kadhir walks with her, dragging the motorcycle borrowed from his friend and pleading with Anita , eventually breaking out crying.
Things change as Anita later realizes that Kadhir is not such a good for nothing fellow as everyone thinks when his best friend tells her that he has the skill to dismantle and assemble any motorcycle within minutes. She takes Kadhir to a Hero Honda dealer and requests them to offer a job to Kadhir. Initially, Kadhir cannot concentrate and gives up only to be taken into the rest room by Anita and slapped. She then tells him that she loves him and asks him how is he going to take care of her. A very happy Kadhir then demonstrates his skill in motorcycle assembly thereby securing a job with the dealer.
His father feels proud when Kadhir gives him his offer letter. Though he refuses to openly acknowledge the efforts of Kadhir, he appreciates Kadhir secretely to his wife later that night saying that none can now question him about his son even as an uncontrollably crying Kadhir tries hard not to be heard. Anita also manages to change Kadhir into a responsible person even as he slowly drops all his bad habits.
The closeness between Kadhir and Anita is soon found out by her mother and she refuses to the pairing even after Kadhir's father tries to forge a relationship between the two families. This is because Anita's family is heavily indebted to another Hindi family who have been financially supporting them ever since Anita's father suffered losses in his business. As a show of gratitude, Anita's parents want Anita to marry the son of the family who have been helping them. Though the guy is handome and well educated, he is shown to be of rather poor character as he hires goons to assault Kadir once after he comes to know Kadhir has been following Anita for some time.
As matters get out of control, Anita with the help of her friends escape from her home confinement and gets to meet Kadhir and they both end up in a room in a posh hotel. Anita reveals to Kadhir that she has taken the biggest decision of her life by deciding to sleep with him. Though initially stunned by her decision, Kadhir ends up making love with her. The next morning Kadhir and Anita start to argue when Kadhir says he wants Anita forever to be with him while Anita accuses him of being attracted to her only because of the need for sex. The director probably sends a message that Anita just wanted to offer herself to her lover before she gets married and permanently separated from Kadhir. She has perhaps decided this is the best she can give to Kadhir who has changed a lot for her sake even as she knows that she cannot do anything against her father who trusts her the most. Their love affair has not been made known to her father as her mother conceals it fearing undesirable consequences.
They continue arguing and come to the street. Anita is slapped by Kadhir and she crosses the road even as a heartbroken Kadhir stands stunned. Anita feels bad and turns back and comes to Kadhir. Caught by several emotions like anger, shame and frustration all at the same time, Kadhir asks Anita to go away. She again crosses the road only to be knocked by a truck even as a helpless Kadhir watches the horrible accident right before his eyes. Kadhir is also hit by a speeding vehicle soon and now the scene shifts to the hospital where everyone is mourning Anita's demise and a badly wounded Kadhir tries to get a glimpse of his lady love even as he is stopped by his friends. Kadhir finds out that the only remains from the accident is her hand thus indicating the brutality of the accident. A shocked Kadhir becomes mentally unstable but not before ensuring Anita's father about her character by saying that it was he who dragged her outside from her home (a lie so that Anita's father can think about his daughter the same way ever after as before her demise) and a relieved yet saddened Anita's mother blesses him and leaves the hospital with her husband.
Later, Kadhir is shown trying to be unsuccessful committing suicide as he escapes everytime. His last attempt leads to utter chaos in a busy city road and leads several people beating him to give vent to their anger for causing so much inconvinience. He is saved by a small group of nuns and as they try to talk to him, he sees Anita passing by. He runs to confront her and Anita then asks Kadhir not to try suicide ever after as God wants him to continue with his life. Though mentally unstable, Kadhir then continues with his job and every evening he meets Anita and they discuss the happenings of the day. It is understood that Anita is visible only to Kadhir and she comes to speak with him everyday so that he does not feel her loss anymore as well as he can continue his existence on earth.
