The Skylarks gained a reputation in Liverpool in the early 2000's. A gig at the Cavern Club attracted the attention of Japanese record label Morning Glory.The band recorded an 8 song album at Parr Street Studios, and it was released in Japan in 2002.The band broke up in 2003. Dave Dutton went on to form The Black Velvets.Paul Molloy played on records by other Liverpool artists including Edgar Jones Band before he joined Howie Payne's Band The Stands in 2005.He left to work with The Zutons, and was recently announced as Boyan Chowdhury's replacement in The Zutons.Dave Baker, who replaced the original drummer, Mike Fitzgerald, went on to form The Fys with three members of Northern Souls his brother Paul Baker,Paul Carden who is Dave Dutton's Cousin,and Jon Goldby.Paul Carden then left to join his cousin Dave in the Black Velvets.Dave Baker then went on to form The Fahrenheits with his brother Paul and Steve Jones before leaving to join Paul Molloy in Howie Payne's Stands. Dave Baker then left to join a band formed by Vinny McPoland,Paul Baker, which also included Jon Goldby and Thomas Joseph which went on to become Familiar Looking Strangers.Dave Baker left to join The Roulettes,Vinny McPoland,Paul Baker,and Jon Goldby are still in Familiar Looking Strangers.In 2007 The Black Velvets split up,Paul Carden is now in The Old No7 Band.
