Kenneth Joseph Silvestri (
May 3 1916 -March 31 1992 ) was an American backupcatcher inMajor League Baseball . He was born inChicago, Illinois . From by|1939 through by|1951, he played for theChicago White Sox (1939-1940),New York Yankees (1941, 1946-1947) andPhiladelphia Phillies (1950-1951). Silvestri was aswitch-hitter and threw right-handed.Following his playing career, he managed in the minor leagues, coached for the Phillies (1952-53; 1959-60), Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves (1963-75) and the White Sox (1976; 1982), and managed the Braves for the final three games of the by|1967 season, posting an 0-3 record. In an eight-season career, Silvestri was a .217 hitter with five
home run s and 25 RBI in 102games played .Silvestri died in
Tallahassee, Florida at age 75.Fun Facts: 1.)Ken Silvestri was married to Rose Silvestri. Their son, Ken Silvestri, married Tara Saine (now Tara Silvestri) and had three children. Just about two months after Ken Joseph Silvestri's death, his son became the father of his first son, named Kenneth as well.
