Racer Arena Former names MSU Fieldhouse Location Corner of Payne and N. 14th Sts., Murray, KY 42071 Opened 1954 Owner Murray State University Operator Murray State University Capacity 5,500 Racer Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Murray, Kentucky. It is the current home of the Murray State University women's volleyball team and is the largest capacity volleyball-only facility among NCAA Division I schools.[1]
The arena opened on December 11, 1954 and holds 5,500 people. It was home to the Murray State men's and women's basketball teams before they moved to the CFSB Center in 1998. It hosted the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament in 1983, 1988, 1990, and 1991.
In 1993, the building housing Racer Arena was named Cutchin Fieldhouse, in honor of former Murray State coach and administrator Carlisle Cutchin.
