Ahmet Turgay Uzer, commonly known as Turgay Uzer, is a theoretical physicist.

Currently Regents' Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. He has contributed in field of atomic and molecular physics, nonlinear dynamics and chaos significantly. Arguably, he is one of the most successful Turkish natural scientist, such as
Oktay Sinanoglu, Feza Gursey, and Orhan Barut.

Academic career

Professor Uzer has completed his first degree in Turkey's prestigious university, Middle East Technical University. According to Harvard University Library [http://lms01.harvard.edu/F/MFDJ7FQS1J1PLKX134L6Y63JXFLHQJS1XS5X9K6YRYCXP4LEAF-61230?func=full-set-set&set_number=782232&set_entry=000002&format=999] his doctoral thesis titled "Photon and electron interactions with diatomic molecules" was published inHarvard University, 1979.

Before joining to Georgia Tech in 1985 as an Associate Professor, He worked as a research fellow at University of Oxford 1979/81, Caltech 1982/1983, and as a research associate at University of Colarado 1983/85. His research areas are quite broad and technological implications are enormous. Specifically, but notlimited to, dynamics of intermolecular energy transfer, reaction dynamics, quantal manifestations ofclassical mechanics, quantization of nonlinear systems, computational physics, molecular physics,applied mathematics.

Awards

Professor Uzer was Alexander von Humbolt-Stiftung Foundation Fellow in 1993-1994 at
Max Planck Institute, Munich.
