- Electronic Notetaking
Electronic Notetaking (ENT), also known as Computer-Assisted Notetaking (CAN), is a service in which a trained operator types a
summary of the spoken word into alaptop at a minimumtyping speed of 60words per minute using dedicated software. The client then reads the text from the screen of a second laptop, or from adata projector .ENT / CAN is primarily for
deaf andhard of hearing people, who need virtuallysimultaneous access to spokeninformation so they can have equal participation with their hearing colleagues, coworkers and classmates. An ENT / CAN operator also provides a written record of sessions, because for deaf and hard of hearing people, taking notes whilstlip reading or watching asign language interpreter is impossible. However, anyone unable to take their own notes can use the service.ENT / CAN is most often used in educational or training sessions where good notes are crucial for

UK , made support more available.ENT / CAN operators may work
freelance , for an agency, or as part of aprofessional team providingcommunication support .ee also
