Honorio Pueyrredón (born
June 9 1876 in San Pedro - died onseptember 23 ,1945 inBuenos Aires ) was an Argentine lawyer, university professor, diplomatic and politician.Pueyrredón graduated at the Faculty of Law of the
Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1896, were he would later also teach.Originally affiliated to the National Civic Union, he later became a prominent figure in the
Radical Civic Union ; he was named Minister of Agriculture in 1916 by presidentHipólito Yrigoyen , and was Minister of Foreign Relations between 1917 and 1922. During this last term Pueyrredón was also chief of the Argentine delegation at the first gathering of theLeague of Nations inGeneva , where he serve as vice-president of the first assembly of 1920.In 1922 Pueyrredón was named Argentine ambassador to the
United States , a post he also held inCuba years later. He was also president of the Argentine delegation to the XIPan-American Conference held inHavana in 1928.Pueyrredón was elected governor of the province of Buenos Aires in 1930, but the elections were invalidated by
dictator José Félix Uriburu , whosecoup d'etat toppled Yrigoyen.He continued his political activity, firmly following Yrigoyen ideas, until he was exiled during the "Década Infame " because of his political tendencies. He died a few years after he returned to Argentina.
